This captures the essence of my admiration for this family. I first met them in April and thought they were crazy and attempting the impossible. I met them on trail a hundred miles later and was shocked they were keeping up with my slow pace. Three hundred miles later, I met them again and realized the extent of their immersion hiking experience. That’s when I started reading their posts and grasped the depth and breadth of this moving one room (or tent) school house.
Last week was my fourth encounter and the boys were just as ebulliently curious and inquisitive (if not more so) as they were every other time I met them. They have been on trail for the better part of a year, having hiked triple the miles I have hiked, and “Super” Mom and “Super” Dad (my new personal trail names for them) have a genuine gleam of happiness and satisfaction in their eyes. They may be trail weary, but it sure doesn’t show.
What sums it up for me is when four year old Ice Cream Sandwich told me that “….when you look for something, some times you find it ….”. I’m 60 years older than he is and felt like I was taking to someone with more life experience than I have.
Hope you all are safe and healthy and move on with your journey just be careful miss you all was over on cypress st today it was a beautiful day here 75 degrees tomorrow warm enjoy and have fun
I had the pleasure of meeting you all this summer at Mohican Outdoor Center. Your words reflect the joy I saw in your family and the wild spirits of your glorious boys! How blessed they are in the childhood you are giving them!
Wow!
